Motivated by attractive application potential of UWB sensors in this field, we survey our own and some related research results on monitoring of static persons in this paper. Monitoring of static persons using ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors has become very popular in recent years. Analysis of this issue has shown that a key challenge to be addressed in this area is processing of raw radar signals to detect and locate people, and then, if it is requested, to monitor basic parameters of their vital signs.
