We first show that the performance and energy dissipation is a function of the probability of packet collision, which can be varied by changing the minimum contention window (CW/sub min/) parameter. Then we propose all algorithm, based on the IEEE 802.11 protocol, which can dynamically adjust CW/sub min/ for better performance and power.
