Issues and challenges on academic information systems: A quantitative study utilizing purdue usability testing questionnaire
Information systems are widely used by the organizations especially in higher education institutions to help transactions become efficient and easier. Higher education institutions are continuing to leverage technological application to increase productivity in their workplaces. This paper presents the assessment on the issues of utilizing usability features of a system by the faculty of a university. The study found out that the employment type (full-time and part-time faculty) and employment status (tenure and non-tenure) of the faculty members does not affect the usability features in using the E-Grade system. Data showed that perceived content was rated high by both full-time and part-time faculty members since the content of the E-Grade system's wording of the text is clear, long text or statements on the website is well partitioned into sections, the wording and label format of the website are consistent and the symbols for graphic data are standard and can be easily understood. In terms of employment status, the tenure faculty members rated high on the perceived content while non-tenure rated high on the perceived graphics since they found that the color codes presented in the website was conventional, can be easily distinguished and it makes the text readable.
