A Morphological Reading of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Based on Vladimir Propp’s Narrative Theory
This paper makes a narrative analysis of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe with Propp’s morphology of the folktale, to further prove that “Propp’s model has the explanatory power to account for narratives that had not even come into being at the time the model was developed” (Simpson, 2004:71) and that the sequence of functions that realized in narratives is not always identical.
