The proposed system is based on a combination of expert systems, the standard automation platform of the company, and signal processing techniques. The rules of the expert system were proposed by quality assurance experts, who hold a huge expertise identifying temperature defects in the hot rolled strips, which indirectly determine the mechanical properties of the material. The entire architecture of the system was designed according to software engineering practices.
