IoT related applications have become widespread in daily life. Sensor nodes are the major components of IoT systems, but frequently encounter resource constraints, particularly when they rely on battery power and wireless communication. In this paper, we provide sleep schedule and data compression to save the power consumption of a sensor node. The compression is based on aggregate approximation and symbol encoding.
