This chapter contains a list of scripture terms related to the discussion of the book on Makarius das Thomasevangelium und das Lied von der Perle. Macarius becomes the great saint of Pietism and has indirect importance for today's world. Subjectivity and interiority, which have maintained Pietism and are found in Macarius, are used to set individualism for the modern concept of personality. In our days, it has been found that these writings are related to the Syrian sect of Messalians from the 4th century. Macarius is a heretic and profoundly influences the orthodoxy in their spirituality. Werner Jaeger has discovered the complete version of the treatise De Instituto Christiano by Gregory of Nyssa. This representation of the object and purpose of monasticism, is compared with the unpublished letter of Macarius the Great, to partially show verbal agreements with Gregory versions.
