New Configurations of Frequency Diverse Antenna Arrays Based on Dot-Shaped Beampatterns
In this paper new configurations of frequency diverse arrays, like superquadric frequency diverse arrays (FDA) and 3D conformal arrays utilizing the extra degrees of freedom in FDA have been proposed. A target detection at different positions using FDA arrays based on dot-shaped beamforming is analysis. The method is based on nonlinear frequency offset and elements transmitting multi-frequency. A linear array of 17 elements with inter-element distance 0.5λ spacing is investigated. Superquadric, elliptical, circular, square and rectangular FDA array are explained. The 3-D conformal arrays, conical helical, cylindrical helical and spherical helical arrays FDAs are proposed. The target is localized in range R, elevation θ, and azimuthal angle ϕ. The new geometries FDA arrays may offer much better interference suppression and clutter rejection than the linear array. They may provide a potential solution of 3D steerability and more directional beams.
