An efficient public transportation service is critical for the citizens, but traffic congestions are still a problem in cities and are one of the main reasons for public transport delays. Therefore, it is important for citizens to know where the needed public transport vehicle is located at the moment, to know if the transport has already passed the stop or not. Authors of this research propose a real-time public transport tracking system using a global positioning system (GPS) technology module to receive the location of the vehicle in a real-time. System is based on the Raspberry Pi 3, which is used to transfer positioning data received from GPS module to the remote database.
