Water is a substance of extreme importance for the existence of life, but has unequal distribution. Industrial development has allowed an increase in the high concentration of non-biodegradable waste materials such as toxic metals. The aim of this study was to analyze the use of biomass obtained by organic matter, stemmed pruning gardening, specifically Zoysia japonica (Esmeralda), the adsorption of cadmium present in a solution concentration of 0.930 ppm, simulating effluents from industrial sources. In the experimental tests carried out in laboratories now Araxá Environmental efficiency was analyzed coagulation and precipitation of unwanted impurities by adsorption, which is due to the presence of electric charges on the surfaces of the solid adsorbent and the chemical species to be adsorbed. The experimental results optimizing: the contact time between the organic material and the effluent contaminated with cadmium, the influence of pH and quantity of organic matter used in the treatment. It was also possible to assess the relationship between the viscosity of the solution through the adsorption and diffusion of ions in solution. The results showed that the best efficiency of the alternative method employing grass trimming to remove toxic metals in wastewater treatment was, mildly basic pH, since this means the solution had lower viscosity and the time of contact between organic material and the contaminated effluent was four hours, 20 grams of organic material per liter of contaminated effluent.
