Micropilares porosos para intensificação da transferência de calor por ebulição
. Due to the market demand for devices with high processing capacity, thermal control techniques involving conduction and convection have become ineffective, given the requirement to dissipate high heat fluxes. Thus, thermal management involving phase change has become an alternative. Therefore, this work proposes to evaluate the pool boiling heat transfer of deionized water using a micro pin fin heating surface of metal foam. The micro pin fins were manufactured using the EDM process. For comparison purposes, a flat surface and a surface with the addition of metal foam, with the same thickness as the micro pin fins, were tested under the same operating conditions. It was found that segmented channels, originating from the addition of micro pin fins, benefit heat transfer at high heat fluxes due to the combination of increased surface area and reduced resistance to the departure of vapor bubbles .
