摘要

由于目前在电信系统中掺铒光纤放大器的成功,现在有一种趋势是寻找更紧凑的放大器,也是基于在波导结构中掺杂稀土的主机,但在短平面波导的更紧凑的几何形状。只有满足以下条件之一,活性离子浓度-截面积可提高3个数量级,才能使活性长度缩短。从基本原理上说明,由于与周围环境的相互作用较弱,离子截面在改变玻璃基体时变化不大,离子-离子相互作用从根本上限制了活性离子浓度。对这一问题提出了初步的解决办法。
