The first is a nonlinear image processing procedure for reduction and/or suppression of background (clutter), and the enhancement of the small difference between two images. This procedure is based on the recently developed Pontryagin filter and concepts of adaptive noise cancelling and image-sequence analysis. The second procedure is linear and is based on a lattice filter structure.
