Comparing a computing curriculum with the ACM/IEEE-CS recommendations
Recently there has been an increased emphasis on monitoring the structure and coverage of tertiary education programmes, and on making the results more widely available. For programmes in the field of computing, one way to achieve this is to compare the curriculum to a known standard. We describe our experience in comparing our curriculum with the ACM/IEEE-CS recommendations. We describe our method of comparison and interpretation, and the conclusions we drew. We also address some issues that arose in doing the comparison, including the length of the overall programme, and differences in core and elective material.
