Smart Sustainable Initiatives for Traditionally Planned Cities: A Theoretical Analysis
The transformation of existing cities into ‘smart and sustainable cities’ with higher levels of livability has taken a high pace in the last few years. Although a lot of attention has been paid to it, the idea of ‘smart’ still seems to be misunderstood in traditionally planned cities and the sociocultural values that express their identity have been overlooked. To validate the concern, this study analyses literature studies on smart sustainable traditional cities from 2005 to 2020 through an extensive review of research papers. Qualitative methodology and PRISMA have been used to bring forth core issues paving way for future studies on smart planning without compromising their associated values.
