Methods of Assessing the Scientific Activity of Scientists and Higher Education Institutions
The research of scientific spaces is a complex task that should consider the dynamics of the development of their components and the numerous changes resulting from the increasing speed of scientific information generation and dissemination. The analysis of associations of subjects and objects of the scientific space, particularly networks of scientific cooperation, networks of citation, and co-citation, is an urgent research task. The paper provides an overview of the functions that arise in the analysis of scientific networks: research of networks of scientific cooperation, study of citation networks, general citation, and bibliographic relationship, identification of research directions and analysis of topics, creation of scientific networks based on common keywords, research of heterogeneous scientific networks. The global distribution and development dynamics of scientific networks determine the approaches to their analysis. The study of scientific networks allows us to understand the structure of interaction between subjects and objects of scientific networks (scientists, higher education institutions, and their structural divisions) and conduct a thorough assessment of their research activities.
