Network Emergency Evacuation Modeling: A Literature Review
Natural or man-made disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, fires and nuclear leaks, have increased over the past 30 years. Given the potential dangers, it is wise for policy administrators to ensure that appropriate emergency plans are in place that aim to minimize the negative consequences associated with these disasters. Many emergency evacuation models are developed for this reason, including simulationbased models and optimization-based models. This review attempts to describe each of the modeling approaches adopted and critically review the inherent capacities of each approach. In the end, some suggestions about future work are presented.
