IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM PENGEMBANGAN FOOD ESTATE DI KALIMANTAN TENGAH
The need for food continues to increase, on the one hand agricultural land, especially paddy fields, continues to decrease. The government is pushing for an increase in food production, especially rice through the food estate development program in central Kalimantan.  This study aims to: 1. Describe the existing condition of the central Kalimantan food estate development program location; 2.  Analyze the implementation of the Central Kalimantan food estate development program; and 3. Identify constraints and challenges in implementing the Central Kalimantan food estate development program. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection and analysis techniques through literature studies from report documents, publications, and other information accessed from the internet. The results showed that the the Central Kalimantan food estate development program with agricultural intensification through the application of technology could increase rice roduction, which was contributed by increased productivity and cropping index, although it was not optimal. The agricultural extensification program through the creation of new paddy fields faces many obstacles, so that it cannot be utilized optimally. Delays in rice seeds and agricultural production facilities continue to occur and are repeated. The development of agricultural mechanization experienced technical and sosio-cultural constraints. Management of water, construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure is not optimal. Farmer’s economic institutions through corporations have not been well developed, so that the implementation of the Central Kalimantan food estate development program has not run optimally, so it has not had an impact on increasing farmers’ income and welfare.
