Maximizing the use of generators with competitively lower operating expenses amongst available generators connected in the grid to fulfill grid demand can have lower cost of energy production. In this study, an energy management system has been developed to optimize operation of diesel generators and gas turbines used in Barbados for lowest annual price of electricity generation. An optimization tool has been developed using Matlab Simulink to determine optimized feed-in power and regulation reserves for different generators and with further grid sufficiency assessments. Monte-Carlo method was used for grid stability analysis.
