Electric vehicle (EV) technology is equipped with a high efficient on-board battery charger (OBC). The battery charger converters are classified into three main types; integrated converter with the machine, two-stage and single-stage structure. These three types of OBC are usually compromised according to power factor corrector (PFC), cost, efficiency and lifetime. In this paper, a recent survey about the various available single-stage isolated unidirectional OBC systems are compared regarding to the previous four metrics. Moreover, hardware limitation, performance, and the utilization of the semiconductors are considered in this review.
