The millimeter waves correspond to frequencies in the range 30-300 GHz and, implicitly, to wavelengths in the range 1-10 mm. They will underpin the new generation of mobile communications systems, offering much higher bandwidth, lower latency and the ability to serve a larger amount of users. However, millimeter waves also come with a number of disadvantages that should not be overlooked, such as increased power consumption and decreased coverage distance. In addition to the advantages and disadvantages of millimeter waves, this paper also analyzes the differences between them and microwaves in terms of losses and also how millimeter waves could affect our health.
