Based on the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) control characteristics of actual wind generating set, a practical equivalence method with the Z-U index for wind farms is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the transient disturbance tests were carried out on the simulation system including the package control model provided by manufacturers, and the key influencing factors of the transient characteristics were obtained. Secondly, the Z-U index, which is only related to the topology of the farm field, was proposed for wind generating sets clustering and wind farm equivalent system reconstruction. Finally, based on the actual wind farm operation data, the fault response characteristics of voltage, active power and reactive power at connection points before and after equivalent were compared and analyzed.
