Body iron load was estimated by serum ferritin level. The study sample consisted of 43 male and 21 female TDT patients, with a mean age of 25.5 years. Most of the patients (43.8%) patients had serum ferritin level in between 1000-2500 ng/ml. 12 patients (18.7%) had serum ferritin level >5000 ng/ml and 3 patients (4.7%) had serum ferritin in between 2501-5000 ng/ml.
