An analysis of policy options shows that a combination of vastly improved energy efficiency strategies and carbon-free energy production technologies will be essential to even slowing the rate of global warming. Current knowledge of the greenhouse effect and its consequences area summarized, and how photovoltaic (PV) electricity can contribute toward atmospheric stabilization goals is examined.
