A New Approach To Urban Development In Egypt: The Case Of The New Adminstrative Capital
In this paper, we discuss the model of the New Administrative Capital of Egypt as an example for urban expansion and also a Geopolitics transformation from the old capital "Cairo" to the new one. In Egypt, The Egyptian Government focuses on new urban developments, and this generation of development is referred to by NUCA (2019) as the fourth generation of developments. These developments target the global city image and aim to increase investments by providing a better quality of life, services & amenities, more privacy, etc. In contrast with the previous generations, as 10th of Ramadan city and Alabour city, which target fulfilling the population demand by providing rational, industrial cities, low-income housing, etc. We investigate three main criteria: branding image, urban image, and the quality of life, and will address them in the approach of the New Administrative Capital of Egypt. In conclusion, we show the strengths and the weaknesses of this approach.
