The Numerical Studies of the Reaction of the Overhead Transmission Lines to a Transverse Impact by Shaking Off Water Droplets
The problem ice deposits on overhead transmission lines in the autumn-spring period is relevant for many regions in many countries all over the world. One of the methods to combat the formation of ice on wires is to create bending deformations in the wires by shaking. Previous numerical and experimental studies show that the choice of impacted parameters should be considered carefully, since the strength, duration and place of application of the load affect the efficiency of ice removal. This article presents the results of numerical studies of the reaction of cable to shocks. The parameters leading to the galloping of a cable, as well as the parameters at which harmonic oscillations are degenerated into the propagation of a stepwise deformation. The results of a numerical study of the impact parameters necessary for shaking off water droplets along the entire span are presented.
