An expert assessment is presented on the functional requirements for electric power storage systems for the development and stimulation of new generation electric power systems — microgrids. The formed requirements and terms allow us to help achieve key performance indicators and operational efficiency of heterogeneous generating equipment as part of autonomous power supply systems. The experience of operation and provision of controlled power output with low dependence on clouds due to the use of an energy storage system with a unified control system is summarized.
