Performance analysis of AODV and DSR routing protocols for IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are, nowadays, implemented in so many fields. In order to guarantee an optimum use of this technology, we need to test different routing protocols performances. This paper evaluates ad hoc on demand distance vector protocol (AODV) and dynamic source routing protocol (DSR)'s performances for IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee. The evaluation is based on packet loss, packet delivery ratio, network throughput, average delay and energy consumption. We investigated various simulation scenarios, varying network and traffic densities. We used the network simulator Ns2. From the detailed simulation results and analysis, we will excavate the routing protocol that performs better.
