In this context, some unique distinguishing features of vascular lesions are explained. A rationale for the role of apolipoprotein apoB100 is presented. It is hypothesized that K⊂ATP⊂ channels and their control by blood pH are behind the development of coronary artery spasm and cardiomyocyte death.
