The least productive firms benefit the most from membership, although the situation is reversed in the case of foreign-owned firms. Foreign direct investment fails to promote knowledge and technology spillovers beyond the receiving firms. The dominance of multinational enterprises in the new EU member states enhances the threat of corporate state capture and asymmetric infrastructure development, whilst access to finance remains a constricting issue for all firms.","PeriodicalId":92056,"journal":{"name":"IZA world of labor : evidence-based policy making","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67363844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Esto se debe principalmente al aumento de los niveles educativos en la mayoría de los países y grupos de edad. Sin embargo, los aumentos en las tasas de actividad de los mayores han sido superiores a lo esperado, incluso teniendo en cuenta sus niveles educativos más altos en general. Esta combinación sugiere que las reformas de las pensiones y los límites a la jubilación anticipada han desempeñado también un papel crítico en el crecimiento de los índices de participación. La expansión continuada de la educación, especialmente fuerte en el nivel terciario en el sur y este de Europa y en muchos países asiáticos, debería garantizar un mayor aumento en las tasas de ocupación y participación. Pero, aunque la mayoría de las reformas políticas que fomentan la competencia refuerzan el vínculo entre competencia y salario según el rendimiento, también puede ocurrir que aumentar la competencia reduzca los incentivos. Asimismo, como las empresas pueden cambiar sus estructuras salariales, los cambios en la competencia no siempre afectan al salario de los CEO. Por tanto, las políticas para reducir la desigualdad salarial deben tener en cuenta las idiosincrasias del mercado y estos efectos diferentes. La mayor competencia a través de, por ejemplo, la desregulación tiene el potencial de ofrecer incentivos directos a los directivos para que obtengan un buen rendimiento. Esto puede reducir las ineficiencias asociadas a una mala dirección. Studies of such “intergenerational persistence,” or lack of intergenerational mobility, measure the strength of the relationship between parents’ socio-economic status and that of their children as adults. However, the association between equality of opportunity and common measures of intergenerational persistence is not as clear-cut as is often assumed. To aid interpretation researchers often compare measures across time and space but must recognize that reliable measurement requires overcoming important data and methodological difficulties.","PeriodicalId":92056,"journal":{"name":"IZA world of labor : evidence-based policy making","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45865275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aunque se ha escrito mucho sobre los efectos que tiene trabajar con buenos compañeros, los efectos de trabajar con buenos jefes parecen ser mucho más considerables. Un buen jefe puede mejorar el rendimiento de sus empleados y reducir el índice de abandonos de la empresa. Esto puede también ser relevante en situaciones en las que supone un reto utilizar estructuras de incentivos, como cuando es difícil cumplir la calidad. Por ello, las empresas deberían invertir lo suficiente en contratar a buenos jefes con habilidades que sean adecuadas para su función.","PeriodicalId":92056,"journal":{"name":"IZA world of labor : evidence-based policy making","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67363798","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
