Naturally, these adverse life events and tragedies create doubt and disbelief about the meaning of life, and our human mind engaged with helplessness, despair, and negativity. However, human's physical and psychological immune systems have programmed through the evolutionary process of survival of the fittest. It makes us capable of overcoming the threats and adversities and showing greater resilience and courage to respond to the demand. At present, the COVID -19 pandemic has paralyzed human life in all aspects irrespective of the social, economic status across the world in 216 countries, areas, or territories. Pandemic causes panic, insecure feelings about life and death, fear of transmission of infection, and so on. The field of positive psychology studies human strengths and potentials that are the ingredients of our well-being, resilience, adjustment, and adaptation to any adverse situations of life. This review article attempts to show the relevance of positive psychology and how positive psychological adaptation and its constructs help to strengthen humankind in times of adversity.","PeriodicalId":51771,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of Research in Educational Psychology","volume":"175 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85838171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also works on the basis that undesirable opinions and feelings can potentially catch an individual in a vicious cycle and that changing negative patterns can help an individual improve the way they feel about various things. Using cognitive behavioral therapy will allow the client to self-explore and identify what factors in life are causing problems or specific concerns. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help the children with Autism spectrum disorder to overcome the social and communication barriers if the levels of anxiety that they are feeling have dropped. Social skills and managing challenging behaviors such as anxiety and emotional regulation are also important and will be useful for children with Autism spectrum disorder to improve language/speech use, social communication/interactions, and symptom severity.","PeriodicalId":51771,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of Research in Educational Psychology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76985718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, the number of studies of the attraction effect on the job-finalist choice is relatively small and bound to methodological gaps (i.e., vulnerable to invariant sample and individuals’ differences). The present study examined the influence of decoy and phantom candidates on job-finalist choice as well as differences of such influence based on participants’ background. By using a within-subject, experimental design, 98 participants of different backgrounds (i.e., personnel selection workers and personnel selection students) were recruited to play the roles of hiring managers in three simulated employee selection scenarios. Results from McNemar’s chi-square revealed the following: (i) participants tend to choose the target candidate in decoy condition over control condition, (ii) participants tend to choose the target candidate in phantom condition over control condition and (iii) no difference in the number of participants who chose the target candidate in decoy and phantom conditions. Besides, results from further analysis on participants’ backgrounds showed: (i) the effect of a decoy candidate is significant among students but not among workers (ii) the effect of phantom candidate is not significant among both workers and students, and (iii) the difference between the effects of decoy and phantom candidates is significant among workers but not among students. The implications of these findings were discussed, and recommendations for future research are provided.","PeriodicalId":51771,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of Research in Educational Psychology","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82907598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En el marco de la “nueva ecologia del aprendizaje” ha empezado a ser fundamental trazar puentes entre las experiencias de aprendizaje que los estudiantes desarrollan dentro y fuera de la escuela. Hasta el momento, pocas investigaciones se han enfocado en el estudio de actividades que tienen lugar fuera de la escuela. En este trabajo exploramos las diferencias en la participacion de ninos y adolescentes en 26 actividades fuera de la escuela, y la percepcion subjetiva de los aprendizajes derivados de su participacion en ellas.Metodo. Disenamos un cuestionario para explorar la participacion de estudiantes en actividades fuera de la escuela y el valor subjetivo que atribuyen a sus experiencias de aprendizaje. La lista de actividades se obtuvo a traves del analisis tematico de 17 grupos focales. La muestra son 946 ninos de entre 10 y 16 anos de escuelas publicas de Cataluna. La participacion se analiza en funcion de la edad, el sexo, el nivel socioeconomico y la localizacion geografica de la escuela. El analisis de los datos se realiza con el software SPSS.Resultados. Se evidencian diferentes tendencias en la participacion en actividades fuera de la escuela segun la edad y el sexo de los participantes, mientras que factores como el nivel socioeconomico y la localizacion geografica tienen una influencia muy limitada. La participacion en actividades fuera de la escuela muestra un patron de desarrollo en funcion de la edad, asi como diferencias importantes relacionadas con el genero (los chicos estan sobrerrepresentados en \"deportes\" y \"videojuegos\", mientras que las chicas muestran una mayor preferencia por actividades sociales o academicas). Los participantes califican las actividades relacionadas con lo academico como las mas importantes a nivel de aprendizaje en contraste con otros tipos de actividades informales en las que dicen que tambien aprenden.Discusion y Conclusiones. Consideramos necesario que las escuelas sean conscientes del riesgo que pueden tener los estereotipos de genero y los discursos sociales sobre el aprendizaje formal en la toma de decisiones de los estudiantes. Se deben implementar nuevas formas de validar las experiencias de aprendizaje no-formales e informales para reconocer y aumentar la visibilidad social de otras experiencias formativas fuera de la escuela. La posible presencia de actitudes negativas hacia las matematicas, en los futuros docentes de Educacion Primaria, es un hecho preocupante si tenemos en cuenta que, estas actitudes, van a condicionar su formacion universitaria y van a tener incidencia en su futura practica docente. Metodo. Se analiza, de forma descriptiva y correlacional, la ansiedad y la autoconfianza hacia las matematicas, como dimensiones de actitud, que presenta una muestra de 488 futuros maestros matriculados en el primer curso del Grado de Educacion Primaria de la Universidad de Granada. Resultados. Los resultados reflejan que los futuros maestros presentan un nivel de ansiedad de 2.76 y un nivel de autoconfianza de 3.32 ambos sobre un maximo de 5. Asimismo, los datos reflejan la existencia de una correlacion elevada y significativa de caracter negativo entre ambas dimensiones de actitud. Discusion y conclusiones. Los niveles de ansiedad y autoconfianza obtenidos son inadecuados para el desarrollo de una formacion matematica de calidad. Igualmente, destacamos la necesidad de realizar acciones formativas orientadas a mejorar la confianza y a reducir la ansiedad hacia las matematicas en este colectivo. EnglishIntroduction. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 1.402 adolescentes, con edades comprendidas entre 12 y 20 anos (Media=14.40; DT=1.910; hombres=49%). Los estudiantes completaron varios cuestionarios sobre los constructos de personalidad de Optimismo, Esperanza, Autoeficacia General y Sentido de Coherencia, asi como cuestionarios que abordan las percepciones del Estilo Parental y las Actividades Extraescolares. Se llevo a cabo un muestreo aleatorio por colegios de Aragon (Espana) que ofertaran las titulaciones cursadas por adolescentes. Resultados. El modelo de ecuaciones estructurales mostro que la Parentalidad Positiva se asocio con la realizacion de Actividades Exraescolares y los constructos de personalidad. Ademas, la participacion en actividades se asocio con el mismo patron de rasgos de persona-lidad (Expectativas, Self, y Sentido de coherencia). Estos resultados se encontraron princi-palmente en estudiantes mas jovenes (12-15 anos), mientras que en estudiantes mayores (16-20 anos) este efecto se encontro solo en aquellos con un perfil de trayectorias academicas de menor exito. Discusion y Conclusion: El tipo de relaciones parentales constituyen el principal activo para los adolescentes, especialmente para promover su desarrollo personal positivo, pero tambien para la participacion en actividades extraescolares. Se debaten las implicaciones para los psicologos del desarrollo, profesionales y educadores, especialmente subrayando la importancia de ofrecer oportunidades extracurriculares. EnglishIntroduction. Positive parenting and Extracurricular Activities are contextual assets for enhancing Personal Positive Youth Development. The study was designed on the qualitative paradigm of research. The sample was constituted of five parents and twenty therapists out of which twenty-eight were speech therapists, six ABA therapists, and six Occupational therapists. A Snowball sampling technique was used to locate the respondents. Two Interview Guides were developed – one for the therapists and one for the parents, and the Observational Checklist was the tools for data collection. The interview guide contained questions about their knowledge about COVID-19, the care they must take of the place in terms of hygiene, handling of the children at the workplace, services being rendered to the clients, and changes they had carried out in their services since the outbreak. The Observation Checklist was based on the parameters given by the WHO for the safety and hygiene measures during the pandemic of COVID-19. It was found out that all the therapists were well aware of the sensitivities of the pandemic. Though they were careful about the hygiene and the recommended safety measures, these were not practically being implemented in true spirit.","PeriodicalId":51771,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of Research in Educational Psychology","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.7,"publicationDate":"2020-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75857183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
