It is curable in the early stages but has a poor prognosis when advanced. Current diagnostic protocols for the early stages of HCC are inefficient. Serum Glypican-3 (GPC-3) is a promising serum tumour marker in diagnosing HCC, and its diagnostic value has been explored in various studies. The outcomes, however, continue to be inconsistent and controversial. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of serum GPC-3 in hepatocellular carcinoma. This study included recent papers not captured in previous meta-analyses. Method: PUBMED, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and CINAHL databases were systematically searched according to preferred reporting items for a systematic review and meta-analysis of diagnostic test accuracy studies guidelines. Studies on the diagnostic accuracy of serum GPC-3 in HCC were selected. The Quality assessment of diagnostic accuracy studies 2 (QUADAS-2) tools were used to assess the quality of selected studies. Sensitivity, specificity, and other diagnostic parameters were pooled using the random effect model. The Summary receiver operating characteristic (sROC) was used to summarise the diagnostic accuracy of Serum GPC-3. Results: Eleven studies were included in this systematic review. The pooled sensitivity, specificity, and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were 0.60 (0.57-0.62) and 0.67(0.64-0.70), respectively. The pooled positive and negative likelihood ratios and 95% CIs were 2.11 (1.51-2.93) and 0.59 (0.51-0.68), respectively; the pooled diagnostic odds ratio and the 95% CI were 4.07 (2.37-6.98), the area under the sROC curve was 0.7194. Conclusion: This meta-analysis has shown that Serum GPC-3 has an acceptable diagnostic value in diagnosing HCC compared to benign chronic liver diseases. A higher-quality study with a larger sample size is necessary to thoroughly assess the diagnostic utility of serum GPC-3.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136155455","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Anal fissures are found more frequently in women. Several treatment options are available with or without medication and/or surgery. This paper presents 4 cases of patients affected by anal fissures healed by one healer and cured successfully by the application of Yoga Prana Vidya (YPV) healing protocols as alternative medicine. Method: This paper uses the case study method by collecting medical data from the 4 patients (3 female and 1 male), YPV healer’s records, and patient feedback. Results: Patient in case 1 became normal after 37 healing sessions of 20 minutes each in 1 ½ months of YPV healing. The patient in case 2 became normal after 25 sessions of 20 minutes of YPV healing conducted in 17 days. The patient in case 3 became normal after 35 sessions of 20 minutes each within a period of about 7 weeks of healing. The patient in case 4 became normal after 10 sessions of 20 minutes of healing within 11 days. Conclusions: This paper presented multiple cases of anal fissures suffered by patients over many years that have been cured successfully by the application of the integrated and holistic system of Yoga Prana Vidya (YPV) healing protocols. Further research is recommended. Recommendations include training Healthcare workers for applying YPV techniques complementary to their respective professions for treating patients holistically and as a preventive modality boosting immunity.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135740447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many cases and deaths occur because early detection is less than optimal. To overcome this, WHO recommends Visual Inspection With Acetic Acid (VIA) as an effective screening method for detecting pre-cancerous lesions early. However, unfortunately, the coverage of VIA inspections is still low in several areas, including in West Java, such as Depok City, Karawang Regency, and Bekasi Regency. Therefore, this problem is interesting to study. This study aims to determine the Knowledge, Attitude, Motivation, and Husband Support in Women of childbearing age with an Interest in Checking for Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) at TPMB Bidan R Cisalak Pasar Cimanggis Depok Year 2022. The method in this study used quantitative research using descriptive analytic methods with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used amounted to 32 people. Data analysis used the chi–square test statistic. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and support from husbands of women of childbearing age by conducting VIA checking. However, there is no relationship between the level of attitude and motivation of women of childbearing age by carrying out a VIA check.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136362336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

WHO and Unicef recommend giving breast milk one hour after birth, as all babies need colostrum to fight infections, which is estimated to save one million baby lives. However, over 90% of mothers discard colostrum, mainly due to lack of information. In Indonesia, the coverage of colostrum provision is still low, requiring further research. This study aims to determine the relationship between postpartum mothers' knowledge and the provision of colostrum to newborns at the Tanah Abang Sub-District Health Center. The study is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 32 postpartum mothers registered at the Tanah Abang Sub-District Health Center, selected using accidental sampling. Data collection is done using a questionnaire, and data analysis uses the chi-square test. The research results show that the p-value is 0.000, thus rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho) and accepting the alternative hypothesis (Ha). These findings indicate a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge and the provision of colostrum to newborns. In conclusion, maternal knowledge significantly influences the behavior of providing colostrum to newborns.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136361343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stroke is classified as ischemic and hemorrhagic. 87 % of strokes are classified as ischemic. Except for thrombolytic therapy, there is no established treatment to reduce the neurological deficits caused by an ischemic stroke. Therefore, it is necessary to develop new therapeutic strategies designed to improve neurological functions after ischemic stroke. Stem cell-based therapies aim to promote neurogenesis and replacement of lost neurons or protect surviving neurons to improve neurological recovery. Further understanding of the mechanisms by which the stem cells exert their beneficial effect could potentially revolutionize the field. The next decade of stem cell research in stroke needs to focus on. Although still in need of exploration, stem cell treatments for stroke may offer ways to protect and replace neurons to improve outcomes for stroke patients.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84217270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many surgeons prefer to use autologous bone grafts than implants due to previous concerns that implants have a higher risk of infection, allergic response, and are not biocompatible as an autologous bone graft. However, recent studies showed that several implant materials have a similar infection rate following cranioplasty or might be lower compared to autologous bone. Moreover, several studies also reported a high rate of bone flap resorption in autograft cranioplasty, particularly in patients below the age of 8 years, thus requiring revision surgery with an implant as a substitute in most cases. Implant materials also have advantages in several conditions that make them more suitable than autologous bone grafts. This literature review is expected to give information about the type of implant materials that can be used as an alternative to substitute autologous bone grafts in certain conditions.","PeriodicalId":51699,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical Research & Health Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79551714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
