The ornamentation on the outer layer of the external spore wall consisted\u0000 of rounded and elongated processes, which are organized in such a way that they look like chromosomes. Therefore, the new species was named Racocetra cromosomica. Evidence to support the new species is based on morphology and phylogenetic analysis of the combined ITS, LSU, and RPB2 DNA sequence dataset. Pezicula\u0000 endophytica, which constituted a clade independent from other Pezicula species, has 4% distinct base pair differences in all genes. Pezicula endophytica has larger macroconidia and longer conidiophores compared with phylogenetically neighboring species.
