The application of telemedicine and mobile health in dermatology has the potential to improve both the quality of healthcare for citizens and the workflow in the healthcare sector, making this topic of great importance. This research covers the last three years. It provides an overview of the opportunities, perspectives, and challenges involved in integrating TD with mHealth. The methodology of the narrative review is based on (I) conducting research through PubMed and Scopus and (II) an eligibility assessment using the proposed parameters. The findings of the study indicate that the integration of TD with mobile health has rapidly progressed during the COVID-19 pandemic. This integration has facilitated the monitoring of dermatological issues and enabled remote specialist consultations, thereby reducing face-to-face interactions. Artificial intelligence and mobile applications have empowered citizens to take a more active role in their healthcare. This contrasts with other imaging areas where information exchange is limited to professionals. The opportunities for TD in the field of mobile health include enhancing service quality, increasing the efficiency of healthcare processes, reducing costs, and providing more accessible care. This is applicable not only to conditions such as acne, vitiligo, psoriasis, and skin cancers but also to other conditions. Future developments are anticipated in the integration of artificial intelligence and augmented reality (AR), as well as the use of wearable sensors. However, integrating TD with mobile health also brings challenges and issues related to regulation, ethics, cybersecurity, data privacy, and device management. These issues need to be addressed by scientists and policymakers while involving citizens in the process.","PeriodicalId":474739,"journal":{"name":"Farabi Tıp Dergisi","volume":"21 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138971849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
