The scope of this research is to propose strategies to strengthen the direct distribution channels of these hostels to generate more income, based on digital marketing strategies and interpretation of hotel indicators. To achieve the objective of the research, accommodations in the area with the highest concentration of hostels in the city were analyzed. Some of them are run independently, others are part of a hostel chain. The variables that were analyzed are RevPAB (Revenue per Available Bed), ADR (Average Daily Rate), occupancy percentage, sales by OTA (Online Travel agencies) and number of sales by other direct channels. This is the first investigation carried out in Colombia and Latin America, in which the behavior of hostel sales is analyzed, and valid strategies are presented to improve the marketing of hostels anywhere in the world. The results shown in this article are the product of the analysis of the marketing channels used by the hostels that were object of study of the present paper during 2018. The latter research work leads to recommending strategies focused on the consolidation of direct channels, making use of digital tools such as the hostels’ websites and social networks, which generate a lower cost compared to the use of other channels such as OTA.","PeriodicalId":436255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127196587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A five-point Likert scale used to test the attitude of the participators toward research variables. 135 Participators shared in this survey are full-time workers employed at casual restaurants located at Greater Cairo. Data collected analyzed using SPSS (23) and AMOS (23) statistical tools. Path analysis approach used to test the research conceptual model. The environments have to be pleasing to enhance customers’ patronage. Unique features ginger customers also and it is on this that the paper is based. Four research questions were raised and two hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Random sampling technique was used to select four hotels and eighty respondents. Structured questionnaire and scorecard were used to solicit information from the respondents on displayed of three coded samples produced. Frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation were used to analyze research questions using a rating scale of 1-5. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to analyze the hypotheses. The findings revealed that beads, used straws, empty pen cases, and mats can be used for curtains with a mean score ) of 4.04. The respondents also agreed that the principles of designs should be applied during curtain production (  = 3.58). Also, the respondents agreed that curtains are important in the hotel (  = 4.33). The three samples are accepted. Significantly there is no relationship between materials used for curtain production and principles of design. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between the production and perception of the respondents on exhibited products. It can be concluded that hotel guests are aware of some indigenous materials for curtain production. Among recommendations stated are: utilization of these materials bring creativity, promotes culture and beautification. The producers should adopt new technology for production.","PeriodicalId":436255,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Management","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125460322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
