The analytical model is suitable for both basic access and the Request-To-Send/Clear-To-Send (RTS/CTS) access mode. The modulated OFDM symbols are separated into two layers as differential modulated symbols and coherent symbols. The differential symbols are used as pilots, which are combined with the coherent modulated data and sent out by the transmitter. At the receiver side, the data in pilot position will be recovered after the differential demodulation. The recovered differential symbols will be used for channel estimation to demodulate the coherent symbols. Furthermore, the differential modulated data can employ low reception threshold and low complexity demodulator, which will facilitate the usage in mobile TV transmission. This paper investigates the cell's energy efficiency and area energy efficiency measured by \"bit per Joule\" and \"energy efficiency per unit area\". This work is motivated by the fact that fourth generation (4G) network operators have a choice when provisioning a network to serve indoor users. An operator can choose to retrofit existing outdoor cellular macro-cell base station sites with 4G equipment or to deploy new compact indoor pico-cell base stations. This paper will illustrate how multi-antenna propagation measurements can be collected and used to estimate the throughput of an indoor or outdoor base station. This information will then be incorporated into an economic analysis that determine what sort of network will have the lowest operating and capital costs while still meeting user requirements. With the assumed multimode transmit precoding, both the number of data streams (rank) and the index of precoding matrix are fed back to the transmitter at each sub-band. By exploiting the channel correlation in frequency domain, an enhanced differential codebook (a subset of the whole codebook) is proposed in this paper. Two methods are developed to pre-determine the differential codebook through either joint transition probability or code distance. SLTs are also suitable for space-time collaboration aided relay networks. In this paper, an iterative decoding aided SLT scheme is combined with 16-QAM transmission in a wireless relay aided network. The Bit Error Ratio (BER) results and Extrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) charts are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme using amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying achieves a 2.5dB gain at a BER of 10^{−5}, while the attainable improvement is nearly 6dB for decode-and-forward (DF) relaying, compared to the non-cooperative scheme, where the 16-QAM and the SLT decoder work independently. Moreover, the AF relaying aided SLT coded 16-QAM scheme is more beneficial, when the relay station is close to the source. By contrast, the DF relaying performs best near the mid-point between the source and destination. In addition, a modified Hybrid Automatic-Repeat-reQuest (HARQ) protocol using incremental redundancy is applied along with the SLT coded 16-QAM scheme to enhance the achievable throughput and energy efficiency of cooperative networks. It illustrates that a combination of high efficiency amplification system with a linearity restoration technique is unavoidable. Currently, Doherty power amplifiers along with digital predistortion technique are able to achieve high power efficiency. However, due to the limited bandwidth of digital predistortion systems (typically 20MHz), feedforward based linearizers which result in significantly lower power efficiency are still considered for wideband solutions (up to 60MHz). An experimental approach for extending the bandwidth of digital predistortion systems is reported. At the relay, a simpler interference cancellation joint decoder decodes for the multiple access phase of two-way relay channels. Then, the relay codeword is encoded from two decoded source codewords with LDPC codes. At source, a sub-optimal belief propagation decoder decodes message from codewords received from the relay, the other source and its own source. Simulation results are given to show that our proposed simpler interference cancellation joint decoder at the relay is only 0.2 dB away from the existing sub-optimal belief propagation joint decoder.
