Most of the features obtained through conventional feature selection algorithms such as IG are relevant and redundant. In this paper, a two-step feature selection method is proposed. At the first step redundancy analysis among original features based on categorical fuzzy correlation degree is applied to filter the redundant features with the similar categorical term frequency distribution. In the second step, conventional IG feature selection algorithm is adopted to select the final feature set for document categorization. Experiments dealing with the well-known Reuters-21578 and 20news-18828 corpuses show that the proposed method can eliminate redundant features with high fuzzy correlation degree between each other and obtain a compressed feature space where the dimension of feature space is dramatically reduced. The document categorization results on two corpuses show that the conventional IG feature selection algorithm can achieve a better document categorization performance on the compressed feature space and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":415445,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing (GrC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115131757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such large systems, different groups of nodes may belong to separate parties who want to control access to the resources provided by their nodes. The access control mechanism must verify the identities of nodes and check their authorization for accessing resources. The system must also support dynamic group reconfiguration mandated by factors such as changes in organizational structure or confidentiality rules and recover gracefully from security breaches. This paper presents a mechanism based on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate hierarchies for fulfilling these requirements in a secure communication platform supporting both synchronous and asynchronous operations in a distributed surveillance system. Dynamic reconfiguration of groups and expulsion of compromised parts of the system is implemented by utilizing certificate revocation.","PeriodicalId":415445,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing (GrC)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125120409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When MapReduce is used in cloud computing where everything is a service and the quality of service is important, a new issue that must be addressed is how to ensure a MapReduce computation will finish before a deadline in a dynamically changing cloud computing environment while minimizing its computation cost. The original MapReduce model cannot address the issue as it is not elastic, that is, it does not support adding resources to a MapReduce computation duration the runtime. To overcome the drawback of the original MapReduce model, a fully-elastic MapReduce is proposed in this paper. In addition, in this paper we study the performance of the fully-elastic model by comparing it with an existing model, namely, semi-elastic model, by theoretic analysis and by numerical experiments.","PeriodicalId":415445,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing (GrC)","volume":"87 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134523659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These heterogeneous types of numbers are forming a challenge in computing and choosing the best alternative. This work proposes a Unified Granular Number (UGN) that we call G-Number to act as a general form for any uncertain number. G-Number represents a higher level of abstract that hold only common properties of different types of uncertain numbers while ignoring particular properties which are not necessary to be considered in such higher abstract level. The main benefit of using such a proposed G-number is its ability to represent all types of granular numbers using unified formality that greatly simplifies arithmetic. G-Number based Analytical Hierarchical Process (GAHP) is introduced to overcome the limitations of handling different types of uncertainty representations in multi criteria decision making problems.","PeriodicalId":415445,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing (GrC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133402700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an optimized evolutionary game method based on public goods games (PGG) is put forward to describe and evaluate time-varying mixed membership networks. Considering the heterogeneous topology, a new preferential rule is proposed to quantify the process of choosing and updating the payoff of individuals in the public goods games. Each individual is allocated with a weight to restrict the influence. The optimal parameter is obtained by minimizing the entropy of nodes topological potential, an efficient way to depict the effect among individuals, which is inspired by Gaussian potential of data field. It demonstrates that an appropriate constraint on individuals does make it more like to approach to the reality, and when it comes to specific conditions, the proposed model achieves well performance.","PeriodicalId":415445,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing (GrC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130381782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
