Here cost is related to number of arithmetic operations and performance is measured by depth of out-of-band spectral attenuation and shallowness of in-band spectral ripple. The two mechanisms that support this process are the cascading of two-path recursive all-pass filter which form high order prototype filters with a small number of coefficients and application of the harris sharpening filter which uses the prototype filter and an all-pass companion filter to compensate for the increase of in-band ripple levels due to the cascade of prototype filters.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115297352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the harmonic ripples appeared in the spectrogram are valuable for human to localize the speech presence, based on the characteristics of these ripples, we propose a novel energy independent feature to detect the changing noise. If noise is present, the noise floors of the traditional minimum statistics (MS) are forced to update to follow the noise change. This scheme can also prevent the false rise of noise floors of MS during long speech presence. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by qualitative results and overall objective measures. Better performances are achieved compared with other noise estimation algorithms.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"36 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132497857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These functions can be exploited in Analogue-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), fuzzy logic and neural networks as well as in signal processing units. Various architecture alternatives are presented which achieve different integer division resolution ranging from 1:2 to 1:65536 or more. High speed and low voltage supply are achieved in ADCs that are based on this divider due to the usage of current mode techniques. Nevertheless, the most important advantages of the presented architectures are the very low power consumption and die area that they require.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132510673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new design utilizes matrix sets derived using a Karnaugh map. The encryption and decryption functions are executed at the bit level of the RGB color representation. The proposed scheme offers perfect reconstruction with no pixel expansion. Analysis and experimental results including in this work support the main argument that the developed scheme is ideal for transmission of color images over un-trusted, bandwidth limited, communication channels.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130856160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A stealth channel is temporally and spectrally hidden underneath a public channel. Our technique applies to several different types of optical systems including optical code division and wavelength division multiplexing. The hidden signal is retrieved at the receiver through dispersion management. The effect of the stealth channel on the performance of the public channel is shown to be small; this is demonstrated through eye diagrams and bit-error rate measurements. To miniaturize the proposed scheme, compact chirped fiber Bragg gratings are used, reducing the length of the fiber providing group velocity dispersion is by a factor of 2000 compared to previous demonstrations.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123679721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whereas a deterministic model in terms of modulated periodic signals allows to distinguish different notes, the presence of multiple notes separated by octaves poses a big problem since they share the same periodicity, and hence completely overlapping spectral content. In this paper we propose the introduction of a spectral model to allow distinction of such mixtures of spectral content at various octaves. Cyclic correlations are estimated at its pitch and decomposed into even and odd parts, corresponding to even and odd harmonics.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115896938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our algorithms for extracting useful metadata from the overhead court camera are described and evaluated. We track the tennis ball using motion images for ball candidate detection and then link ball candidates into locally linear tracks. From these tracks we can infer when serves and rallies take place. Using background subtraction and hysteresis-type blob tracking, we track the tennis players positions. The performance of both modules is evaluated using ground-truthed data. The extracted metadata provides valuable information for indexing and efficient browsing of hours of multi-camera tennis footage and we briefly illustrative how this data is used by our tennis-coach playback interface.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121540546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On the other side, low-end devices demands low cost platforms. In this paper we present methodology for optimization of lossless audio decoders on a dual core DSP-s. In addition to the common techniques such as: instruction parallelization and buffer reusability, we describe Generalized Splitting Algorithm Technique, exploiting features of embedded system. The methodology of proposed algorithm is illustrated on CS4953xx dual core processor, tested in simulator and verified in real time systems (AVRs, Blu-Ray Players). Estimated 180 MIPS for audio decoder was split on 140 MIPS on a first core and 55 MIPS on a second core, providing MIPS vise optimal solution for entire system.","PeriodicalId":409669,"journal":{"name":"2009 16th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124994617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
