Internet of Things (IoT) is enabling the collection of a variety of information of all types of components for monitoring the environment and systems. Also, as part of this evolution, the original concept of Vehicular Ad-hoc networks (VANETs) is being transformed into a new concept, the Internet of Vehicles (IoV), which involves Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communications, and other variations of these (V2X).In this paper, a review of the state of the art of the technologies and architectures generated around the Internet of the vehicles (IoV) is carried out and with this, an implementation of the simulation of intelligent vehicular communications through the IEEE 802.11p protocol and one of its applications. An algorithm for the generation of vehicular convoys to improve vehicle flow application through V2X communication is proposed and implemented in the simulation, and the communication quality is validated in a closed route in an urban environment during the simulations, omitting aspects of security in communications.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115097651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed methodology is based on a general distance function, named the General Evaluation Factor (GEF). This method was applied to MIMO networks that operate over Rayleigh fading channels with different antenna nodes. The implementation of this method was based on different capacities and cost values. The GEF indicator regarding the power consumption and the capacity factors of different MIMO systems is calculated. The channel is modelled using the Rayleigh fading approach, which is the most representative case for non-line of sight radio propagation.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115526866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, correlation of biomedical data acquired from different wearable sensors enable remote health monitoring, and eventually diagnosis and treatment. Activity tracking is an important part of remote health monitoring. For this purpose, this paper proposes a novel architecture for an activity tracker, which correlates accelerometer data with lower-limb electromyogram, in order to implement precision movement detection. The purpose of correlating accelerometer data with lower-limb electromyogram was to discriminate user movement, i.e., walking and running, from other type of activities, e.g. jumping, hand balance, etc., which lead to false increments of the step count. Tests carried out with a laboratory proof of concept of the proposed activity monitor validate the proposed architecture.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123088036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IFFT/FFT blocks used in the classical OFDM waveform are replaced with IDTCWT /DTCWT blocks in the DT-CWT-OFDM waveform. In order to confirm the achievement of the investigated waveform and compare it with the waveforms of classical OFDM and discrete wavelet conversion based OFDM (DWT-OFDM), computer simulation studies are carried out on AWGN, flat Rayleigh damping and frequency-selective Rayleigh damping channels. It is seen from the attained simulation outcomes that the DT-CWT-OFDM waveform has better achievement than the classical OFDM and DWT-OFDM waveforms and also provides approximately 6 dB SNR gain against the classical OFDM and approximately 1.5 dB SNR gain against the DWT-OFDM for a BER value of lE–4.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"3 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123447816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, the high incurring costs imposed on subscribers who are roaming outside their Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) has also contributed to the widespread coverage of OTT VoIP. As a result, mobile operators are witnessing a dramatic drop on their Average Revenue per User (ARPU). Current OTT VoIP apps fail to interwork with circuit switched phone calls without compromising the security requirements imposed by regulators on MNOs. In this paper we propose a method that secures a competitive edge for mobile operators over current OTT VoIP apps. It bridges the CS with PS networks and provides full control by the operator while maintaining the same security requirements. Moreover, we propose an additional feature for enabling multi-device reachability through the subscriber’s phone number (MSISDN) which is provided by the mobile operator. The method’s implementation verifies that the system has little impact on the mobile operators infrastructure. We finally conclude by providing potential business models for MNOs to increase their ARPU and outperform OTT VoIP providers","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122422105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a spatial/image-based method using a parallel and hierarchical system architecture. As a feature extraction stage, we propose the Bag of Features (BoF) algorithm which treats image features as a bag of visual words. It is followed by a multiclass SVM classifier trained separately for each phase of the ultrasound investigation. A soft voting scheme has been proposed for the information fusion of the individual phase classifiers. The preliminary evaluation shows promising qualitative results of our approach on samples of a newly introduced CEUS dataset. Using only 550 images, (5 liver lesions x 10 pictures/lesion x 11 patients) an average accuracy of 64% has been obtained for a leave-one patient-out procedure.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130163301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Corporate giants, such as Google or IBM, train English ASR systems on more than 100k hours of annotated speech, while research on under-resourced languages, such as Romanian, has to deal with as little as 300 hours. In this context, automatic annotation of speech corpora and unsupervised acoustic model training are promising directions to be explored to leverage the lack of data. This study describes the progress made by SpeeD laboratory in this research direction: using an already proven methodology, applying it on large scale (more than 700 hours of unlabeled speech) and analyzing in-depth the experimental results to identify potential future directions. Moreover, we present novel results on Romanian ASR: the methodology leads to a relative Word Error Rate (WER) improvement up to almost 10%.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125801441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We base our detector on the popular framework of FasterR-CNN and compare its performance to other models such as Mask R-CNN or RetinaNet. We perform a detailed empirical analysis of various design and architecture choices and show how these can have much higher influence than algorithmic tweaks or popular techniques such as data augmentation. We also provide a systematic detection performance comparison of various models on multiple popular datasets including FlickrLogos-32, TopLogo-10 and recently introduced QMUL-OpenLogo benchmark, which allows for a direct comparison between recently proposed extensions. By careful optimization of the training procedure we were able to achieve significant improvements of the state of the art on all mentioned datasets. We apply our observations to build a detector to detect logos of the Red Bull brand in online media and images.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126985669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both the new technology (5G, LTE-A) and the legacy systems (LTE, HSPA, 3G, 2G) utilize the transmission and transport capacities of the backhaul extensively. The recent introduction of 5G requires again increased capacities. Consequently, more and more cell-site locations will receive fiber-optical backbone. Depending on the topology, the existing microwave and millimeter-wave links will “turn” towards aggregation points having fiber access. The increased density of cellsites reduces the hop-lengths, meanwhile adaptive modulation also provides the possibility of capacity increase. This paper reviews the availability and fade margin targets of the new links, that shall be carefully kept by proper planning and monitoring.","PeriodicalId":399087,"journal":{"name":"2019 42nd International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131261099","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
