It evaluates the changes in producer and consumer prices and household living expenses. The Saudi Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) was developed along with a price multiplier approach used to analyze different simulations. Two findings stand out. First, there are differences in impacts according to household groups and the direction of the effects. Low-income and middle-income households were the most negatively affected by the price hikes. Second, the potential impacts of manufacturing, transport, storage, and communications price shocks are high. For a 50% increase in prices, the overall increases in cost of living for low-income households and middle-income households, as estimated with the SAM price model, are 20.59% and 6.17%, respectively. In contrast, the impacts of electricity, gas and water supply, and agriculture prices are minor, estimated at 2.05% and 2.75%, respectively. This would indicate that special attention should be given to compensatory mechanisms to minimize the adverse effects on low-income and middle-income household groups.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85673325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study used the descriptive analysis method by analyzing documents from the best international practices on the consolidation of public schools. The study used two tools, namely, analyzing documents and interviews with 20 experts. The study found that the best international practices for consolidating schools with a small number of students are based on a national consolidation manual, diversity in standards of consolidation and its alternatives, raising the awareness of the local community, and provision of safe and comfortable school transportation. Finally, the study provided suggestions for consolidating schools to improve the efficiency of public education expenditure in Saudi Arabia.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"88 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80288367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to assess the degree of organizational climate dimensions (clarity of goals, effectiveness of communication, balance of power, use of resources, cohesion, morale, creativity, independence, adaptation, and problem-solving) present in five-star hotels within the regions of Makkah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia, and the impact it has on enhancing the sense of belonging in employees. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher distributed a questionnaire to a random sample of employees selected from those hotels, and 882 questionnaires were valid for analysis. The study discovered that all organizational climate dimensions in the five-star hotels within the regions of Makkah and Madinah are clearly present, in addition to employees practicing the method of enhancing the sense of belonging correctly. The results also highlighted the significant and positive impact that the organizational climate and its ten dimensions had on enhancing the sense of belonging among employees in those hotels.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"72 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90579270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presence of the equilibrium relationship between the components of the macroeconomic factors is essential for economic growth. This research aimed to measure the extent to which the consumption expenditure of rice was affected by some of the macroeconomic factors, namely national income, per capita national income, and the consumer price index in Saudi Arabia from 1990 to 2018. This research relied on secondary data collected from various sources such as the Saudi Statistics Authority and the World Bank. Johanson’s cointegration test and Granger's causal test were used to achieve the specific goals (knowing the equilibrium relationship and the existence of causality between study variables). The results showed that there was a long-run relationship between the study variables. Also, the results reflected the existence of causality: It was found that the consumption spending on rice is affected by both the national income and the per capita national income separately. From these results, this study recommends that during papering socioeconomic planning, rice should be given more attention.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69891660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed metamaterial structure is composed of a single ring with a rectangular patch, consisting of periodic unit cells with a size of 150mm × 250mm × 1.5mm. The structure exhibits three absorption peaks under normal incidence, which cover the X-band. According to the results, the desired material can excellently absorb the electromagnetic wave signal, with an outstanding absorption rate of about 95% at the microwave x-band frequency. The proposed structure shows three absorption bands where two of them exceed 90% absorption level. The results displayed a high Q-factor of 103.5 at a resonance frequency of 8.58 GHz and the figure of merit (FOM) is 98.4, which can be used to enhance the sensor sensing, narrowband band filter and image sensing. The proposed structure is fabricated, and experiments are carried out to validate the design principle. Strong agreements are observed between the measured and the corresponding simulated results.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69893637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This inconsistency problem is at the origin of several sources of assertions with different levels of reliability. The various solutions proposed in the literature that have to do with retrieving an exhaustive and coherent list of responses are not satisfactory from the point of view of reliability and performance. The solution that we present to solve this problem is articulated around two phases: the first phase consists of interrogating the different knowledge bases to retrieve all of the possible answers, which may be inconsistent and/or contradictory, and the second phase consists in repairing these inconsistencies and/or contradictions. To do this, we propose an approach based on three algorithms that we developed in this framework: a first algorithm for non-defeat repair, a second algorithm for lexicographic repair and a third algorithm for non-defeat repair based on lexicography of possible inconsistent responses. The experimental study carried out on the different data collections, as well as the analysis of the results obtained, confirm the performance of our approach as well as its efficiency in regards to productivity and complexity in terms of execution time.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69893744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The films of the composite material were formed with five weight ratios (0.25, 0.5, 1, 2.5, and 5wt%) in addition to pure LLDPE, intended to investigate the role of nanomaterials in improving the performance of some properties of LLDPE polymer such as increasing the shelf life of food products and protecting the consumer from pathogenic germs in food packaging applications. The efficacy was evaluated against pathogenic bacteria, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, through the standard \"ISO 22196\". The test results confirm that the nanocomposite films containing 0.5wt% or more of nano-zinc oxide have bacteriostatic activity. This activity increases with the increase of ZnO-NPs in the LLDPE polymeric phase, and the highest antibacterial effect was in the nanocomposite films of 5wt%. It was found that gram-positive bacteria were more sensitive to ZnO-NPs than gram-negative bacteria and that these nanocomposite films can provide a safe way to preserve food without the need for food processing.","PeriodicalId":39024,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of King Faisal University","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69894524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
