This review aims to aid dentists to evaluate and assess patients sustaining burn injuries in a better way and to understand the varied treatment protocols for particular types of burns in order to help patients restore their oral health.Articles from PubMed and Google Scholar (from1991 to 2019) were reviewed. All articles relevant to the topic, case reports and literature reviews were included in this review. No articles were excluded.All included articles suggested that burns are a type of tissue injury that can produce localized or diffuse areas of tissue damage depending on the severity and extent of the insult. Burns of the oral mucosa may be caused by thermal, mechanical, chemical, electrical or radiation injury. Thermal burns are usually caused due to ingestion of high temperature foods or drinks. Similarly, chemical burns occur due to exposure of oral mucosa to acids or alkalis or certain drugs. Electrical burns are less common, however, they are mostly noted in children due to biting onto electrical cables or wires etc. Clinical features of all types of burns range from whitish red erythema to necrotic patches. The sites of burns usually vary based on their etiology. Although, there are some contemporary guidelines, there exists no specific standard of care with regards to management of different kinds of burns. This article aims to form a general review of burns of the oral mucosa and its treatment guidelines.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123788012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Production of aerosols during various dental procedure have definitive potential of transmitting covid 19 to one another. After three phases of COVID pandemic in India, there is lot of changes and challenges in health care services. The dental treatment have became an issue which need to be well addressed. Out of 500 individual only 410 individual gave their consent for the study. Offline questionnaire survey was conducted among adults above 21 years. The questionnaire included their demographic details and question related to their knowledge and fear of undergoing dental treatment during this pandemic situation. Among 410 individual who participated in the study, 21% of the individual had covid symptoms. 35% told that they are afraid of dental treatment during pandemic where as 45% almost half the individual said they will take the treatment if its only emergency. The main reason for this fear was infection that they can get while getting treated or while in a dental clinic or hospital. The fear of dental treatment during pandemic is not that high. This may be due to recent advances in dental procedure and sterilization. The knowledge of maintaining good oral care is been adapted by maximum individual.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123352038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The treatment modalities include both pharmacological and surgical modes of treatment. To achieve adequate mouth opening, the complete release of fibrotic tissue is essential. Pharmacological therapy is useful only in the initial stages while surgical therapy is used in later stages of the disease. Incising the fibrotic tissue with a conventional blade or electrocautery can cause further fibrosis. Laser excision comparatively leads to lesser intraoperative bleeding hence better vision, faster healing of tissues, and least or no post-operative scarring.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123728996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Anthropometeric measurements are used to determine facial shapes. To determine the facial index and canine relationship in Distt. Solan population. A total of 250 subjects (108 males and 147 females), aged 10- 40 years, were selected randomly. The facial proportions measured were (facial height and breadth). A digital vernier caliper was used for the measurement of facial proportions. The total facial index was calculated and the results obtained were analyzed statistically using the t-test. There was a no significant difference in the facial parameters and canine relationship when males were compared with the female subjects. The dominant phenotype in the studied population was Mesoprosopic. Class II canine relation was most common in the overall population. The data obtained in our study may be useful in anthropological research, forensics, genetic research, as well as in medical clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114068601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Apical closure occurs approximately three years after eruption. Apexification is a treatment option that is done with the aim of apical repair by formation of hard tissue barrier through apex. Conventionally, a calcified barrier is inducted using a calcium hydroxide mixture. Various materials that can be used for apexification include Calcium hydroxide, MTA, Tricalcium phosphate, Dentin chips, Calcium phosphate ceramics and hydroxyapatite and bone morphogenetic proteins. Calcium hydroxide is the most common and traditional material employed for inducing apexification. The primary maxillary central incisors are the most common teeth to be avulsed, followed by maxillary lateral incisors and the Primary mandibular central incisors. We present this case because of the unusual avulsion of a primary mandibular central incisor due to a freak accident by accidental engagement of father s ring in the child’s tooth while playing with her. This should be addressed as emotional trauma related to the father and the child as Pediatric Dentist in this case.","PeriodicalId":379965,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Dental Specialities","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122260033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
