Particularly, shipment between two regions were rarely transported using full capacity in both directions. Moreover in many occasion, shipments were carried empty. Therefore, cost of both direction shipment was increased twice or more than normal shipment. Indonesia government has proposed Pendulum Nusantara that guarantees fixed schedule between two regions to cut the logistic cost. This paper generates Indonesia maritime logistic networks using Pendulum Nusantara and enhances it to further bring the cost down and increase profit. The improvements were achieved using combinations of routes that have not considered in Pendulum Nusantara route networks. The problem was modeled as a mixed integer program and a commercial solver was used to generate the solutions. Optimization results show higher profits can be obtained in an acceptable computation time.","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128508234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors have been developing the intent inference system that advises the appropriate deceleration timing to mitigate the collision risk with the preceding vehicle. The purpose of the system is to infer the intent of a vehicle ahead 1.5 s in advance of its driver’s most likely action. The proposed system has been well evaluated through a driving simulator experiment and a car-following simulation in previous studies by the authors. However, the car-following simulation itself is not enough to identify the safety effect of the assistance system on a vehicle platoon of a convoy. In this paper, the safety impact of the proposed assistance system on the platooned vehicles was assessed using additional driving simulator experiments. Numerical analyses showed that the proposed assistance was significantly effective for the safety of multiple vehicles in the platoon including the assisted car itself.","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126911471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we introduce the necessary data collection that is linked to a fleet management system (FMS) operated by a local taxi agency and create a statistically sound database, which represents the mobility behavior on a trip level. \u0000Second, we derive key figures describing the city’s taxi characteristics. Here both the temporal taxi supply and demand of 420 taxis over a period of 19 weeks is considered. As the taxi demand differs according to the city district, the investigated area has to be divided into various zones. We analyze their specific characteristics and describe key factors influencing taxi requests, such as weekdays, public holidays and number of point of interests within an area. \u0000Next, a model to predict a time-variant demand for individual districts is introduced. We classify the problem and choose an appropriate algorithm to forecast spatiotemporal taxi requests. As booking actions differ over time, a nonhomogeneous Poisson distribution is suitable for counting those events. In a final step, we validate the proposed model on a local and global scale. Our model helps to provide a better understanding of taxi fleet operations on a city scale. We use the suggested demand prediction as one input parameter for an agent-based fleet simulation that represents individual taxi movements. ","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129133312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, task card and maintenance intervals must be set according to the reliability of aircraft components and systems. Approximately 90 percent of the maintenance programs prepared according to the MSG-3 philosophy contain task cards for finding defects or faults, and these do not have a relevant use in the absence of a defect or fault. In this study, reliability of the aircraft parts is estimated according to the Weibull distribution by using maintenance data, and the probability of failure for each part is calculated. ","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127882590","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mathematically, these models are usually designed with differential equations or as sets of integerbased rules. Since both approaches have disadvantages, we propose an in-between approach built with Timed Automata and Finite State Machines (FSM) to reproduce the human behaviour. The fundamental idea is to model the switches between a limited set of discrete acceleration levels with a FSM and derive all other trajectory features from there. The duration for which this constant acceleration is maintained is not fixed and is modelled by a (probabilistic) Timed Automaton (TA). With this arrangement, the complexity of CF behaviour can be represented with high computational efficiency in large-scale simulations without sacrificing model fidelity. It also captures the intrinsic randomness in human driving and enables the incorporation of directly observably statistical CF properties. This paper identifies the best-correlated stimulus-response factors, analyses state machine properties of certain trajectory features and finally shows how several state machines can be hierarchically organised with the subsumption architecture. ","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130260002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Companies depend on transportation to receive inputs from their suppliers and take their products to consumers. This modal is also the major consumer of fuel oil products in the transportation sector. Thus, it is necessary to act with a focus on sustainability, considering the economic, social and environmental aspects. From this perspective, this study aims to present aspects of the concept of sustainability in the Brazilian road freight transportation sector, with emphasis on the environmental, social and economic dimensions. A qualitative research approach was used with the literature research technique in order to build the theoretical basis for discussion on the dimensions of sustainability in Brazilian road freight transportation. The results show that the road cargo transportation sector is relevant for the country and seeks to fulfill its social role and be economically viable; requires attention to environmental awareness and eco-efficiency; should make efforts to use alternatives to avoid damage to the environment, applying technologies to reduce noise pollution, GHG emissions; and seek to comply with environmental legislation acting in a sustainable manner.","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130861607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Identified as one of the most crucial source of pollution, traffic and transportation activities became one of the main focal points in this study. Focusing on promoting the use of public transportation, the study team investigated service characteristics, quality, ridership and trends in mode share in Greater Nakhon Ratchasima. It identified the role of public transport relative to other modes and current trends in mode share. This paper presents survey techniques with limited staff and time resource in survey and rational estimation. Against the operators' low ridership claim, the study team estimated rather promising passenger volume that could support decent quality public transport. The strengths and weaknesses of the current system were highlighted along with data gaps. The study team proposed a comprehensive but indicative range of practical short term public transport improvement and complementary options. Other supplement transportation management plan were also developed including traffic direction and parking regulations. The ending results would be reduction in travel time, pollution and energy consumption.","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131247418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of this paper is to study the effects of Bayesian updating on transferability of aggregate and disaggregate mode choice models. These models are calibrated for a city in Iran and transferred to another city. Results of employing transferability measures such as Transfer Index (TI) and goodness of fit of transfer model are evaluated in two forms of naïve and Bayesian updating. Results show that Bayesian updating can noticeably enhance transferability of disaggregate models, but not as much in aggregate models. It is concluded that applying Bayesian update approach is reliable only when transferability of naïve model is not rejected. ","PeriodicalId":372752,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Traffic and Logistics Engineering","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133031218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
