Current research aims to assess and assimilate the financial performance of Islamic banks and state-owned commercial banks in Bangladesh. For this study, researchers assemble secondary data from the annual reports of five Islamic banks and five state-owned commercial banks from 2015 to 2019. Researchers employed panel data for analyzing and determining the significant determinants of the banks’ performance to compare. As a measure of profitability, Return on Equity (ROE) has been considered as a dependent variable whereas the total asset, capital, capital adequacy ratio, liquidity, credit to deposit, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and inflation are considered as independent variables. The findings of this study reveal that total asset, capital adequacy, and liquidity variables affect Islamic banks momentously whereas state-owned commercial banks are momentously affected by total asset and liquidity. But credit to deposit has no significant effect on both categories of banks. UAE's infrastructure project failure rate has been estimated to be as high as 50%. The general objective of this study is to assess the relationship between project management process, technological orientation and Infrastructure performance in United Arab Emirates (UAE). A cross-sectional study was carried out for this purpose. For this study the target population was an employee of RTA. However, population was the officer, managers, and engineer who worked in RTA for this research. The questionnaire was pilot tested for content validity with a sample of 36 employees. To ensure a high rate of response, structured-short and self-administrated questions, and mostly closed questions were prepared. The required sample size for this study was estimated to be 361. Because the current study employed quantitative methodology, statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS 24 and AMOS 21. The results of structural equation modelling showed that there is significant relationship between project management process and technological orientation (β = 0.313, t = 6.686, p ≤ .05), project management process and infrastructure performance (β = 0.331, t = 6.431, p ≤ .05) and technological orientation and infrastructure performance (β = 0.411, t = 7.346, p ≤ .05). The study also found that there is a significant partial mediating effect of technological orientation between project management process and infrastructure performance. This study concluded that firms can improve infrastructure performance through the incorporation of technological tools. It is further concluded that dimensions of project management process are the important determinants that support performance. {"title":"A Social study on the Human Rights of the Trans-community of a Developing Country, Pakistan","authors":"L. As one of the most marginalized communities of any society, the trans-community faces differential treatment, especially from developing countries. The trans-community is often a victim of social exclusion discriminations in public and private spheres. The present study explores their social exclusion experience and its impact in the light of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN Charter. A sample size of 150 was taken out using the snowball sampling method in the Sargodha City of Pakistan. It was found that the trans community is considered a marginalized segment of society, and their families neither own them nor give them their due share in inheritance. Also, to become part of the guru system inherently rooted in enslavement, they have to adhere to a range of stringent rules. Hence, social exclusion has violated various SDGs, including goals 3, 10, and 16. The findings strongly suggest that interventions to increase social inclusion, reduce gender-based discrimination, violence, and physical abuse, and facilitate access to quality medical care should be considered part of a comprehensive approach for preventing risky behavior in trans-populations. The researchers suggest a set of actionable recommendations for the well-being of the trans-communities of the studied location. The study specifically focused on assessing how technological alliances, marketing alliances, production alliances and logistics alliances affect performance of firms in motor vehicle industry in Nairobi County. The study was anchored on Resource Dependency Theory, Transaction Cost Theory, Knowledge Management Theory and Organizational Learning Theory. The study adopted a descriptive research design and targeted 18 firms in the automobile industry and operating in Nairobi County. The unit of observation comprised of 315 employees from the selected motor vehicle firms and occupying managerial positions. The study employed Slovenes Sampling formula in deriving a sample size of 158 respondents. Primary data was collected through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and analysed through both inferential and descriptive statistics. The statistics were generated by the help of SPSS and Ms Excel. The results of the analysis were presented using tables. The study established that producttion alliances and logistics alliances positively and significantly affect performances of motor vehicle industry (Beta=0.410, sig=0.000<0.05 and beta 0.301, sig=0.001<0.05). The study further established that technological alliances and marketing alliances positively but insignificantly affect performance of motor vehicle industry ((Beta=0.128, sig=0.089>0.05 and beta 0.109, sig=0.126>0.05). The results imply that enhancing increasing each of the variables with their one unit results to performance increase of the motor vehicle industry with the respective beta values. The study seeks to investigate the extent of organizational support ensured by the workplaces to create a transgender-friendly environment in Bangladesh. The paper opted for a mixed study and surveyed 47 trans workers using a questionnaire. The responses yielded quantitative data that was analyzed using SPSS. The qualitative data was collected through focus group discussions with seven respondents. The study findings showed that the discrimination and exclusion experience is negative for trans workers of Bangladeshi organizations and educational institutions. While most of the respondents felt primarily excluded in the formal setting, they feel that they have been intentionally left out when they meet their coworkers in informal or social gatherings. The outcomes of the discrimination involved forced termination and absenteeism on the ground of their non-binary gender identity. It was also found that many Bangladeshi organizations still do not want trans workers to represent them. To the best of researchers’ understanding, the past research on the transgender community’s diversity and inclusion experience in organizations is rarely covered from the developing country’s perspective. This paper attempts to fulfill the study gap. Recommendations for good practices to ensure diversity is proposed to companies. Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) is therefore increasingly recognized all over the world, as a panacea to ameliorate the menace of unemployment. Any country that attaches special importance or gives special attention to entrepreneurship stands a better chance of reducing unemployment and improved economy. This study therefore seeks to examine the impact of EDP on the menace of unemployment in Osun state, Nigeria. The specific objective seeks to examine the impact of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on youth empowerment; and determine the effect of N-power on poverty reduction in Osun state. The study adopted survey research design, using item structured instrument to elicit information from the respondents, for a true representation of the whole population of twenty-five and seventeen thousand (25,000 & 17,000) from both NDE and N- power respectively. The sample of four hundred (400) and two hundred and fifty (250) from both NDE and N -power respectively, making a total of six hundred and fifty (650) respondents was drawn from the population using Taro Yamane (1967) formula for estimating sample. A total of 650 questionnaires were administered out of which six hundred and thirty-two (632) were properly filled and returned. The formulated hypotheses were tested using multiple regression with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS…Version20). The finding of the study revealed that NDE programmes have significant impact on job creation. with the R2 of 0.598. The study also revealed that N-power significantly address poverty reduction, most especially in Osun State, with R2 value of 0.687, which indicate that technical skills which comprises of cognitive and non-cognitive skill actually reduced unemploment.
