FSO channel is impaired with atmospheric turbulence and pointing errors. Previous works on PPM modulation technique proposed a synchronization algorithm called Timing with Dirty Templates (TDT), which is based on correlations between symbol information. Since this technique is blind-based, it suffers from lack of accuracy in timing detection. Therefore, we proposed an enhanced algorithm which allows more accurate detection and causes lower rates in bit error as well as in mean square error. Our simulation results are valid in different levels of atmospheric turbulences and pointing errors.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"448 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116433095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most promising applications is the streaming of video data which presents a suitable tool especially for warning drivers and preventing dangers on roads. However, video streaming over vehicular environment is a daunting task due to high movement of vehicles and the specific requirements of video data in terms of performances and quality of service (QoS)/ quality of experience (QoE). To this end, this paper presents a survey of video streaming techniques in vehicular networks and discusses the different QoS/QoE related to video streaming issues. A comparative study of QoS/ QoE aware video streaming schemes classified according to the technique used is elaborated. Furthermore, major challenges in video streaming are identified as future trends of research.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122547723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a multi-resource management method for multi-tier SIN using the cooperative Nash bargaining solution. Since the original problem is a non-convex problem, we firstly make logarithmic transition, and then find a tightest lower bound function to convert the initial problem into a convex one. In order to carry out the optimal bandwidth and power allocation in SIN, we construct a joint bandwidth and power allocation (JBPA) algorithm. VANETs have many promising applications such as improving vehicle drivers’ safety, and decreasing accidents. Vehicles communicate via Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Roadside (V2R) mainly by broadcast, which needs to be efficient, especially in congested areas. An effective rebroadcasting protocol has to be designed carefully in order to maximize reachability while minimizing delay and the number of rebroadcasts. However, prior work typically minimizes either congestion or latency at the expense of reachability and the number of rebroadcasts. In this paper, we present the Nash Equilibrium Scheme (NES), a rebroadcast algorithm that outperforms prior work on reachability, number of rebroadcasts and delay, especially in congested areas. NES attains these goals by considering key environmental factors such as a number of received messages and distance to the event. We evaluate NES’s performances through NS2 simulations.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"491 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122751923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These fuzzy constraints deplete the energy of the implemented sensor network, especially, in coverage and routing data in the large-scale zones. The main constraint in WSNs is the energy. To outcome this constraint, we have proposed a Data Routing-Scheduling via Efficient-Energy Area Coverage in wireless Sensor Network protocol (EE_AC_DR) based on our proposed Dijkstra Front-Back algorithm. In fact, our protocol uses Dijkstra algorithm with steps to pass the nodes in the superior Cluster, or return it to the lower Cluster to choose the designed node as Cluster-Heads for playing a multiple role; a role of Cluster-Head, a role of coverage in the entire cluster and a role of communication routing the information in the best and shortest path towards the base station. This protocol is divided into the following five (5) steps: 1) the construction of the Clusters; 2) the choice of the Clusters-Heads; 3) the choice of the best neighbors; 4) the construction of Head-Clusters-Head, and 5) the choice of best Cluster-Head neighbors. We demonstrate, using some large scale simulations, that this protocol enhances the performances of the network and allows taking the best choices regarding the use of only one node in each cluster to monitor and communicate data using the shortest path with minimal cost.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122617229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because neural networks can automatically learn the intermediate representation of raw speech signal, currently, most methods use Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to extract information directly from spectrograms, but this may result in the ineffective use of information in hand-crafted features. In this work, a model based on weighted feature fusion method is proposed for emotion recognition of variable-length speech. Since the Chroma-based features are closely related to speech emotions, our model can effectively utilize the useful information in Chromaticity map to improve the performance by combining CNN-based features and Chroma-based features. We evaluated the model on the Interactive Emotional Motion Capture (IEMOCAP) dataset and achieved more than 5% increase in weighted accuracy (WA) and unweighted accuracy (UA), comparing with the existing state-of-the-art methods.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128533390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the nature of the treatment and side effects on regular lifestyles, maintaining quality of life in the home environment is a challenging task. Sometimes within a home environment, a cancer patient’s situation changes abruptly, as the functionality of certain organs deteriorate, which affects their quality of life. In this paper, we propose a Blockchain and off-chain based framework which will allow multiple medical and ambient intelligent IoT sensors to capture quality of life information from one’s home environment and securely share it with one’s community of interest. Using our proposed framework, both transactional records and multimedia big data – consisting of a user’s physiological as well as mental states – can be shared with an oncologist or palliative care unit for real-time decision support. We have also developed Blockchain-based data analytics, which will allow a clinician to visualize the immutable history of the patient’s data available from an in-home secure monitoring system for a better understanding of a patient’s current or historical states. We further designed a generic oncologist smart contract and digital wallet for different stakeholders to automate the treatment plan of a particular patient. Finally, we will present our current implementation status, which provides significant encouragement for further development.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"132 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130514810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several applications are considered in this project which require fundamentally new solutions for security, that differ from traditional security mechanisms such as PKI, signatures, encryption, etc. Indeed, a certified vehicle in PAC V2X can easily send false location information, alert incorrect event or report a bogus object. This increases overall energy consumption, which translates into a much higher rejection of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. By the integration of small cells, i.e., femtocells, in the new generation networks, important questions are raised about the energy consumption in heterogeneous networks. In this paper, a new proposed Dynamic transmit power (DTP) based scheme is proposed to decrease the network power consumption. A stochastic geometry model is used to describe the different femtocells position in the network with realistic constraints and to evaluate the performance of our solution. Performance has been studied in terms of energy consumption and energy gains. Simulation results are used to confirm the analytical results and show that the DTP based scheme can reach an energy gain up to 35% compared to the constant transmit power (CTP) based scheme.","PeriodicalId":363800,"journal":{"name":"2019 15th International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123935572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
