The MP was the rapporteur for the abortion law adopted in 1956 and became its “media face”. Sejm speeches by Jaszczukowa also concerned issues in the field of family law, social matters, and professional activity of women. The solutions and legal regulations proposed by her from the parliamentary tribunal harmonized with the program of the Women’s League. The question of the real effectiveness and influence of the League’s deputies on the government’s policy at the time remains unanswered.","PeriodicalId":34781,"journal":{"name":"Czasopismo Naukowe Instytutu Studiow Kobiecych","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66903254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research on press interviews makes it possible to determine matters relevant to the magazine’s addressees at a given time. The aim of the research was to reconstruct the media image of women’s life in 1989–1992 in the Polish women’s press. During the research procedure, attention was paid to: the dominant topics covered in the interviews, the picture of systemic transformation, the gender of interlocutors and their professional competences. The research covered 208 issues of the weekly Kobieta i Życie [Woman and Life] and 208 issues of the weekly Przyjaciółka [Best Friend]. The selection of magazines was dictated by their high circulation (over 500,000 copies). The interviews published in weekly magazines was categorized into the broadly understood social, political and economic sphere. In Kobietai Życie it was 42 interviews, in Przyjaciółka – 77. The qualitative analysis of the content allowed to group the topics of interviews into six categories: economy, politics, social assistance, education, healthcare and law.","PeriodicalId":34781,"journal":{"name":"Czasopismo Naukowe Instytutu Studiow Kobiecych","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66903338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The journal was recognized as the “younger child” of the editorial office of Kobieta i Życie [Women and Life], and its first edition was published in 1957. In Filipinka, the bond between the editorial team and the readers was very important. The editorial office received hundreds of letters a day, and meticulously replied to all of them and did not shy away from expressing opinions and giving advice on the most intimate matters related to adolescence. Filipinka also provided widely understood counseling. Each issue was filled with issues related to fashion, beauty, external appearance and health. The editorial board of Filipinka educated young women on many levels of personal and social life. This article discusses issues related to education and science. Therefore, attempts were made to present the educational role played by the Filipinka in a literal way. In the journal, a lot of space was devoted to publishing press materials, providing actual information on recruitment requirements for schools and universities. On the other hand, by publishing specific press texts, a specific model of a young woman was disseminated in the pages of Filipinka – an ambitious, con scientious schoolgirl and student, and in the longer term – a committed and dedicated professional worker.","PeriodicalId":34781,"journal":{"name":"Czasopismo Naukowe Instytutu Studiow Kobiecych","volume":"56 96 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66903094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Back then the religious press was an important part of publishing. Some of the papers were published directly for women. After all, it for decades shaped the views and attitudes of millions of Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian women and other residents of the Soviet Union. Such periodicals as “Robotnica”, “Włościanka”, “Kobieta Sowiecka”, being at the central level a part of a powerful propaganda machine, facilitated the Communist Party’s ‘piecemeal’ of women’s souls in the spirit of Marxist feminism. And its promoters, such as Nadezhda Krupska, Anna Ulyanova-Yelizarova, Inessa Armand, Aleksandra Kołłontaj and many others like them, so much that less known associates of Vladimir Lenin and his successors combined political and journalistic activity. The consequence of this situation was not only the instrumentalization of the women’s press politicized by the communist party, but also the limitation of its agency.","PeriodicalId":34781,"journal":{"name":"Czasopismo Naukowe Instytutu Studiow Kobiecych","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66903214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Role models, associated with patriarchal family, promoted in the catholic press, exposed features of men, such as resourcefulness, care for his wife and home, meanwhile, for women, these were features such as economy, kindness, care for her children and husband. People looked for future wives and husbands among neighbours, neighbouring villages and in the nearest area. Within traditional rural areas, basic criteria of marriage was the size of the lands owned by the families of the spouses, as well as owned money capital. Love and mutual attraction were desired but not required in this model. Those, who managed to combine “decent” conditions of the future marriage with elation of heart, were considered the lucky ones. Introducing couples by matchmakers, friends or family members had to guarantee “choosable” choices. Religious concept of marriage assumed that procreation is its main objective. It disregarded divorce and considered conscious maternity inconsistent with catholic morality. In practice, Catholics didn’t obey behaviour models promoted by the Church. Church’s ethical principles about the binding nature of marriage and the ones banning living without entering marriage, weren’t fully respected. Based on the survey conducted among priests in diocese of Kielce regarding family morality among congregation in years 192–1929, we learn that in just a few parishes self-willed separations and living without marriage were observed. The main reason behind separations were property issues, irreconcilable differences, infertility, illness or brutality of one of the spouses. Also, ban imposed on birth planning and control wasn’t generally respected. All of the above proves changes that were taking place in marriage and family relations in peasant families during inter-war period.","PeriodicalId":34781,"journal":{"name":"Czasopismo Naukowe Instytutu Studiow Kobiecych","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66902983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
