Ceglarek","doi":"10.15290/cnisk.2023.01.14.04","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15290/cnisk.2023.01.14.04","url":null,"abstract":"The article is an attempt to sketch a portrait of the talented French pianist Colette Gaveau (1913–1987), winner of the first prize of the Paris Conservatory in 1932, participant in several international music competitions, including the 3rd Piano Competition Frederic Chopin in Warsaw in 1937 and the Eugène Ysaÿe, which took place in Brussels in 1938. A breakthrough event in the life of young Colette Gaveau was the marriage with the Polish pianist Witold Małcużyński (1914–1977) in October 1939. Due to the warfare of World War II, Gaveau-Małcużyńska left France with her husband, first to Portugal and then to Argentina. The Małcużyński family did not return to Europe until 1945. It appeared indirectly, most often when describing other social issues. It accompanied the problems of social exclusion due to gender, age, financial condition, education, and professional status. Three separate images of old women emerged on the pages of the interwar press for Polish women. Firstly, there was the image of a matron, that is a dignified married woman, a mother, a tireless social activist who skilfully combined sacrificial work for the benefit of the family and the interests of the community. The figure of a matron was identified with noble features of a woman who demanded a lot from herself, becoming a moral role model for other women. In turn, in the image of the old lady, there was a tendency to show a younger, modernized version of the matron. The lady was ready to introduce innovative elements of family, social and professional life. She knew how to modernize the work of social associations. The third image contained the representation of poor, lonely, hopeless old age. This is an incentive for the research team associated with the Center to continue cooperation in the following years. A new field of joint activity under the ministerial program “SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF SCIENCE” could become in the years 2022–2023 press studies (more broadly media studies) focused on media addressed to women and their public perception. Attention should be given to the publications appearing in the 19th–20th-century traditional press as well as on the 20th–21st-century audiovisual media, both classic and digital. Victor of Tunnuna, Liberatus of Carthage, and the author of selected biographies in Liber Pontificalis focused in their works primarily on the issues of religious policy of the empire and described the person of the ruler throughout this prism. Krystyna Kaszuba was its founder and the first chief editor. Taking inspiration from foreign magazines such as ‘Marie Claire’ and ‘Elle’ she created the unique Polish luxury magazine. In the years 1990–2021 ‘Twój Styl’ developed the position of a leader in its typological group, becoming a model for other magazines. Their overall picture was made up of partial images: personal. The representation of women in the church historiography of the period is a reflection of how women are perceived by the authors of the sources in question, the men from various cultural backgrounds and milieus: a Greek-speaking lector from Constantinople, a Latin-speaking bishop from the Roman part of Africa, a Syriac monk from Amida, but also a lay jurist from Antioch writing in Greek. The first part of the article contains analyses of Theodore Lector’s Church History and the Chronicle by Victor of Tunnuna.
