In general, learning mechanisms are equipped for such agents in order to realise intelligent behaviours. In this paper, we propose a new estimation of distribution algorithms (EDAs) which can acquire effective rules for cognitive agents. Basic calculation procedure of the EDAs is that: 1) select better individuals; 2) estimate probabilistic models; 3) sample new individuals. In the proposed method, instead of the use of individuals, input-output records in episodes are directory used for estimating the probabilistic model by conditional random fields. Therefore, estimated probabilistic model can be regarded as policy so that new input-output records are generated by the interaction between the policy and environments. Computer simulations of probabilistic transition problems show the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":347123,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Knowl. Eng. Until now, many researchers have proposed portfolio models based on the stochastic approach, and there are some models considering both random and ambiguous conditions, particularly using fuzzy random or random fuzzy variables. However, the model including normal mixture distributions with fuzzy numbers has not been proposed yet. Our proposed problems are not well-defined problems due to randomness and fuzziness. Therefore, setting some criterions and introducing chance constraints, main problems are transformed into deterministic programming problems. It is essential point that the procedure does not contain the concept of the regularisation. The criterion of the variable selection is a simple AIC. On the other hand, Fisher's linear discriminant function (LDF) for two groups is known as the linear regression function which has dichotomous independent variable. Then kernel Fisher's LDF can be also discussed by the use of variable selection. We then discuss the role of fuzzy set methods in multi-criteria decision-making. We note that when an application involves non-standard, interval valued or intuitionistic fuzzy subsets, a problem arises in choosing a best alternative. This problem is a result of the fact that the membership grades of these non-standard fuzzy subsets are not completely ordered. Various factors were taken into consideration and were used as inputs to effectively demonstrate online analytical process, OLAP methodology. OLAP is a new method that is used to explore the role of several risk factors in cardiovascular disease risk assessment. It equally serves as a means to extract knowledge from the investigated factors' levels. This paper discusses the application of OLAP-specific procedures in order to explore hidden pathways associated with risk factors among patients and controls. It does so, as the latter proves to be time consuming when classical statistical methods, in particular logistic regression are applied. Finally, this work builds on earlier findings, with odds ratios converging among the studies. As a consequence\u0000of the evolution, reflective action rules such that\u0000PacMan tries to eat pills effectively until ghosts come close to PacMan are acquired. Such rules works well. However, sometimes it is too reflective so that PacMan go toward ghosts by herself in longer corridors. In this paper, a critical situation learning module is combined with the evolved fuzzy systems, i.e., reflective action module. The critical situation learning module\u0000is composed of Q-learning with CMAC. Location information\u0000of surrounding ghosts and the existence of power-pills are given to PacMan as state. This module punishes if PacMan is caught by ghosts. Therefore, this module learning which pairs of (state, action) cause her death. By using learnt Q-value, PacMan tries to survive much longer. Experimental results on Ms.PacMan elucidate the proposed method is promising since it can capture critical situations well. The state value function is updated in terms of sample episodes. Utilising eligibility traces is a key mechanism in enhancing the rate of convergence. TD(λ) represents the use of eligibility traces by introducing the parameter λ. However, the underlying mechanism of eligibility traces with an approximation function has not been well understood, either from theoretical point of view or from practical point of view. The TD(λ) method has been proved to be convergent with local tabular state representation. Unfortunately, proving convergence of TD(λ) with function approximation is still an important open theoretical question. This paper aims to investigate the convergence and the effects of different eligibility traces. In this paper, we adopt Sarsa(λ) learning control algorithm with a large, stochastic and dynamic simulation environment called SoccerBots. The state value function is represented by a linear approximation function known as tile coding. Many techniques in data mining, data analysis or information retrieval require a similarity measure, and selecting an appropriate measure for a given problem is a difficult task. In this paper, the diverse forms similarity measures can take are examined, as well as their relationships and respective properties. Their semantic differences are highlighted and numerical tools to quantify these differences are proposed, considering several points of view and including global and local comparisons, order-based and value-based comparisons, and mathematical properties such as derivability. The paper studies similarity measures for two types of data: binary and numerical data, i.e., set data represented by the presence or absence of characteristics and data represented by real vectors.","PeriodicalId":347123,"journal":{"name":"Int. We propose a model using crowdsourcing to disambiguate and decide about the accurate Wikipedia page that must be linked with a definite word/spot. We discuss about importance of crowdsourcing and compare different crowdsourcing systems and at the end, introduce crowdflower. We discuss about the crowdflower features in particular. Finally, we analyse output reports of the crowdflower and present a novel approach to select the reliable results. Limiting dropout is essential in university-level distance learning and therefore the ability to predict students' dropout could be useful in a great number of different ways. Generally, data sets from this domain exhibit skewed class distributions in which most cases are allotted to the normal class (students that continue their studies) and fewer cases to the dropout class, the most interesting class. A classifier induced from an imbalanced data set has, typically, a low error rate for the majority class and an unacceptable error rate for the minority class. This paper firstly provides a systematic study on the various methodologies that have tried to handle this problem. Finally, it presents an experimental study of these methodologies with a proposed local cost sensitive technique and it concludes that such a framework can be a more effective solution to the problem.","PeriodicalId":347123,"journal":{"name":"Int.
