In this context it can highlighted several researches introducing modern concepts of projecting, modelling, and simulating. This paper presents a new approach for fault diagnoses in distribution feeders inserted into a Smart City. The ability to handle load variations, several kind of permanent or temporary faults and non-linearities are performed by a hybrid combination of Fuzzy Systems and Orthogonal Decomposition. Results are shown to validate the approach.","PeriodicalId":345318,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Latin America (ISGT LATAM)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126991871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to reduce the impacts caused by solar panels (PV's), the application of intelligent networks is feasible to control the distributed generation. Inserting storage energy elements in PV's stabilizes the energy produced by the panel, very sensitive to temperature and solar irradiation. In this context, we developed a computational model of 100 kW photovoltaic systems connected to the network with storage elements for the uniform supply of power, which has a load control strategy and battery discharge, standardizing the power delivery network Therefore, it was verified the importance of smart grids in the control of power flow.","PeriodicalId":345318,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Latin America (ISGT LATAM)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127708050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The determination of bus voltages and branch currents is based on a linear approximation, which allows to evaluate the impact on the network resulting from the connection of different distributed generation sources (DG). One of the main advantages of the proposed model is the convergence for any operation condition. Furthermore, it is possible to apply the model to problems concerning the operation and expansion of smarts grids. Finally, to test and validate the model, it was applied to an existing distribution network composed of 135 buses and with distributed generation. The main results are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":345318,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Latin America (ISGT LATAM)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129868517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the various sensors and transducers used, the direct and inverted pendulums present an additional challenge. These instruments are widely used in hydroelectric reservoirs to monitor minor displacements in the concrete structures by the measurement of the pendulum's degree of inclination according to the X and Y references set which will reflect the amount of displacement. In this paper, a system capable of performing automated readings of the pendulum wires inclination, through the image processing technique, is presented. A processing methodology combining the calculation of the x component, the gradient signal and the Hough transform was adopted for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":345318,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Latin America (ISGT LATAM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134569540","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under AMI, utilities use smart meters and aggregators to collect consumer data that support better-informed and automated decisions. AMIs are typically formed by wireless links, reducing the investments in infrastructure. Although beneficial, the use of wireless raise issues of reliability and coverage, and requires the estimation of the success rate in delivering packages. The growing demand for electricity requires a better management of distribution transformer load. Due to this problem many transformers are operating over their load limits. The replacement of an overloaded transformer by another of higher power is the normal procedure to solve the problem. The proposed model considers the replacement of an overloaded transformer by an under loaded and vice-versa. The Multiagent System was conceived to give a support for management activities of transformers replacement. The system also supplies economical information for the transformer replacement.","PeriodicalId":345318,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Latin America (ISGT LATAM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132527933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
