While each business needs its own competi- tive strategy, multibusiness firms require corporate management for capturing synergies. The competitive view has triggered the emergence of multiple businesses within a single firm. Despite this, it is common to find managers who are unaware of the benefits that joint management brings to the performance of a multibusiness company. Managing multibusiness firms implies facing a paradox: leveraging business uniqueness while creating joint value for the multi- business company. This paper characterizes the multibusiness phenomenon from the existence of ownership ties and coordinated actions, by qualitatively researching 21 Colombian multibusiness firms. This paper studies the existence of economies of scale in the pro- cessing of such transactions, a situation that would exist if it were compatible with the existence of a single firm destined to the processing of said operations. The existence of a single firm for processing is not in itself a problem per se, which does generate problems for the competition is the structure of said firm, because for the period of time analyzed, its shareholder composition was composed of The main banks that issue these cards, but also have given them the function of being the acquirer of the merchants for these payment methods, which generates a vertically inte- grated structure, which creates competition problems in the market. A rigorous literature review was carried out, in order to identify the variables that, according to the contemporary development of the theory, most impact talent retention and, subsequently, a survey is applied to workers and contractors of the mining indus- try, whose data is analyzed by means of an exploratory factor analysis, presenting the results through a parallel analysis and, finally, a multiple linear regression model. For this reason, it is necessary to understand the behavior of donors to achieve a more effective acquisition and retention of donations. Based on the theory of values, the main objective of this research is to identify the profiles of individuals who make donations of time and money to an NGO via the exploration of motivators and inhibitors to donate. A qualitative approach was used with a total of 22 participants in the city of Medellin. Group sessions and in-depth interviews were conducted with 19 donors of time and money between the ages of 18 and 30, as well as three in-depth interviews with experts. The results propose a value segmentation of three groups of donors: Altruists, Hedonists and Makers; mainly repre- sented by the values of “universalism,” “pleasure,” and “self-direction,” respectively. Although for all segments it is important to help those who need it most, the values expressed in the motivations that lead to donations vary from one segment to another. {"title":"ANÁLISIS DE LOS FONDOS DE PENSIONES EN CHILE: PERIODO 2011-2018","authors":"Ricardo Méndez Romero, Hernán Rocha Pavés","doi":"10.35692/07183992.12.1.4","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.35692/07183992.12.1.4","url":null,"abstract":"The objectives of this study are: 1) Carry out a comparative study of the performance of the different pension funds of each of the AFPs; 2) Carry out a comparative study of the historical performance of the different pension funds of each of the AFPs and compare them, in addition, with results of previous studies carried out by other authors.\u0000The scope of this paper is defined as a descriptive-correlational investigation, because it is intended to identify the results of the management of investment portfolios, without manipulating the variables of the problem, these are iden- tified and described as they occur in their context financial, to then analyze them from a temporal and quantitative comparative perspective, based on the Principle of Investor Rationality of Harry Markowitz and applying the Sharpe, Treynor, Jensen and Omega ratio as performance models.\u0000An important result observed is that, for this period of 8 years, all AFPs and funds present positive monthly average returns, even though the years 2011 and 2018 show losses, especially funds A, B and C. For their part, the benchmark of Market (IPSA) shows a negative performance. The financial performance ratios are all positive, which indicates that the performance / risk ratio is satisfied.\u0000The different returns between AFP and IPSA are explained because pension funds have a high percentage of invest- ments abroad and include fixed income instruments. A more relevant comparison would be to reference the actual results with those of an equivalent fictitious portfolio, but to date, there are no studies that allow defining the parame- ters necessary to form said portfolio. Non-traditional ratios, such as Omega, are coincident when the distributions of the results have a normal configuration. This case illustrates how the decision to carry out an expansion requires a very deep analysis that goes from the economic and financial aspects to a strategic analysis. The literature review and the results of the interviews with expert academics conclude that this process is affect by variables as; the country that receives the foreign investment; to the offer, the kind of company, economic sector in which it operates, and to the demand; the market where the company seeks to develop its internationalization. Five cases have been analyzed; two service companies: Tata Consultancy Ser- vices Limited and Oberoi Hotels & Resorts and three tangible product companies: Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Mahindra. This adjustment implies the need for modifications to certain internal organizational factors, such as organizational culture, values and beliefs, in order to survive. This research proposes that – besides other factors – organizational culture type and the level of cus- tomer orientation can account for a considerable portion of a company’s success or failure. Therefore, the objective of this conceptual paper is to propose a model that determines which type of organizational culture (clan, hierarchi- cal, adhocracy, or market) facilitates a greater degree of customer orientation.
