Dayo, Ann Kashmer Yu","doi":"10.56570/jimgs.v2i1.96","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.56570/jimgs.v2i1.96","url":null,"abstract":"Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a group of chronicchildhood arthropathies in which various joints areaffected. Along with the joints being involved, long-standing arthritis can lead to other systemicinvolvements. Eyes, kidneys, and skin are someexamples. It is no surprise that we come across manypatients suffering from renal complications due to long-standing JIA. This systematic review aimed to focus onthe renal involvement seen in JIA and the use ofmonoclonal antibodies in its treatment. A systematicreview was performed using the PRISMA (PreferredReporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and researching studies ondatabases like PubMed, PubMed Central, and GoogleScholar on June 26, 2022. Assessment tools likeCochrane, SANRA, and JBI Tool were used for qualityassessment and the selection of articles. Followed bythe quality assessment, seven studies were included inthe final selection. These were two randomized controltrials, four case reports, and one literature review. Inconclusion, many cases involving renal complicationsalong with JIA were seen, and Tocilizumab has provedto be efficacious in improving renal complications inJIA. AI has been shown to aid inidentifying, categorizing, diagnosing, and managingdiabetic mellitus [1]. It will likely continue to do so witha clear understanding and the ability to find previouslyunidentified solutions [2]. AI has a role in diabeteshelping to anticipate the diagnosis, provide nutritionand exercise goals, monitor complications, and assistwith self-management [7]. We may now see themanagement of diabetes and other chronic diseasesfrom a new viewpoint thanks to the expanded use ofcontinuous glucose monitoring and the identification ofpatterns in glucose fluctuation known as glucosevariability [3]. By scrutinizing the existing literaturehighlighting shared risk factors and biomarkers betweenatherosclerosis and asthma, it becomes evident that theinflammatory cells common to both ailments may play arole in the pathogenesis of both disease processes.Some research sheds light on the protective effect ofsome asthma medications and the harmful aspect ofothers. Thisliterature review aims to explore the relationshipbetween obesity and CKD, highlighting the potentialmechanisms underlying this association. The reviewincludes several studies that demonstrate that obesityis an independent risk factor for the development andprogression of CKD. Obesity-induced metabolicdisturbances such as hypertension, diabetes, anddyslipidemia are believed to play a crucial role in thepathogenesis of CKD. The review also suggests thatlifestyle interventions, including weight management,may be essential in preventing and managing thecomplications of these conditions. Eventhough the medical field is considered a highlydemanding job, the pandemic brought its challenges.The uncertainty of a new virus along with its effects onthe human body, patients presenting with varyingseverity, long working hours, the psychological burdenfrom isolation, and mortality have caused severalmental health issues for healthcare workers. Manystudies conducted have shown significant psychologicaldisorders such as anxiety, insomnia, depression, andeven post-traumatic stress disorder in many healthcareworkers. The post-pandemic era has opened our eyes toaddress and recognize these issues faced by frontlineworkers. It has become vital that we promote mindfulpractices among healthcare workers, remove the stigmaaround taking help for mental health issues and createan environment where workers can easily take upcounseling services for these issues.
